The DMS Healthy High Performance Cleaning (HHPC) program is our organization-wide integration of environmentally responsible products and processes. Our goal is to achieve high levels of cleanliness, hygiene and appearance with minimal environmental impact.
With the number of related benefits, DMS is taking a leadership role to protect the health of building occupants and cleaning personnel, as well as to reduce the overall impact on out environment.
We have included many components to our HHPC program that enable us to directly align our program with the LEED for Existing Building Rating System. It can serve as a primary guide to earning as many as 14 points toward LEED-EB certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
Becoming LEED certified is good business
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a Program that has recently gained momentum in building practices throughout the United States. Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, it establishes standards for sustainable buildings. LEED certified buildings enjoy government incentives, marketing benefits, and increased property value. Buildings that apply for certification earn LEED points for using HHPC products and practices.
Environmentally friendly cleaning creates healthier surroundings.
HHPC helps improve indoor air quality and reduce the health problems that traditional products may contribute to. Building occupants, visitors and janitorial staff may reduce incidents of skin, eye and respiratory irritations, allergies; multiple-chemical sensitivities; headaches.
Healthier environments increase productivity and marketability.
Healthier employees mean happier employees. Statistics show increased worker satisfaction, improved morale, reduced absenteeism, and increased productivity and efficiency. Employees and customers appreciate knowing that green practices are used in the building. A green cleaning program helps you market your business as a socially conscious one.
HHPC helps the earth.
Implementing HHPC can reduce the negative effect your cleaning and sanitary operations have on the environment. Using environmentally friendly equipment and products in the right mannerr helps decrease air pollution, water pollution, ozone depletion and global climate change. HHPC practices also promote recycling, reduce the use of raw materials, and minimize toxic products requiring disposal.
HHPC helps green bottom line
An effective program can reduce costs to building management, tenants, and/or the janitorial company, including costs associated with sick leave, health care, productivity loss and litigation. In addition, green cleaning practitioners use energy-efficient equipment (e.g., vacuum cleaners) and focus on preventive maintenance to reduce future expenses.
HHPC increases the safety of the building and protects property value.
While the crux of green cleaning is about reducing health risks – for humans and other living things – the process provides other benefits to the facility. Green procedures, including proper use, storage and disposal of materials, actually reduce the likelihood of fires, explosions, spills and splashes. HHPC products are less hazardous and reduce the risk that janitors, the facility or an occupant will be harmed by the product.
